Recovery URL

Every cart that hasn't been converted has a Recovery URL: a private link that puts the cart's items back in the shopper's cart and takes them to the cart page, so they can finish buying.

Where it is used

  • In recovery emails, through the [cart_url] shortcode. See Email shortcodes.
  • By hand. Copy it from the cart detail page and send it to a customer, for example in a support reply.

What happens when someone opens it

  1. The cart's products and quantities are put into the visitor's cart.
  2. Applied coupons are restored.
  3. The cart is marked Active again and linked to the visitor.
  4. The visitor lands on the cart page.
Treat the link as private

The link is a long random key, and anyone who has it can restore that cart. Share it only with the customer it belongs to.

The link stops working if the cart is moved to the trash.
