Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit the BerryPress documentation website at berrypress.com/docs (the "Documentation Site"). It supplements the BerryPress Privacy Policy, which covers accounts, purchases, licenses and support on our main website and applies to those activities.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Anna Widera, trading as BerryPress, Adama Mickiewicza 3c/25, 43-170 Łaziska Górne, Poland. You can contact us through help.berrypress.com.
2. What we process and why
The Documentation Site does not require an account, and we do not ask you to submit personal data in order to read it. We process the following:
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Server logs: IP address, date and time, requested page, referrer, browser and device information | Delivering the site, security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Analytics: pages viewed, time on page, approximate location, device and browser type, with IP addresses anonymised | Understanding which documentation is useful and improving it | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), where required by law; otherwise legitimate interests |
| AI chat assistant: the messages you type, technical identifiers and usage data | Answering your questions about our documentation and improving answers | Consent / legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(a), (f)) |
| Messages sent to us (support tickets, email, social media) | Responding to your request | Legitimate interests; performance of a contract where you are a customer |
| Preferences stored in your browser, such as light or dark theme and language | Remembering your display choices | Strictly necessary / legitimate interests |
We do not use the data of the Documentation Site for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not sell personal data.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The Documentation Site uses:
- Local storage in your browser for preferences such as the theme and selected tabs. This is stored on your device and is not sent to us.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, used to produce aggregated usage statistics. We have enabled IP anonymisation.
- The AI chat widget (see section 4), which may set its own identifiers to keep a conversation going.
Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, you can withdraw or change your choice at any time by clearing cookies in your browser settings, using your browser's privacy controls, or using Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect parts of the site.
4. Service providers and recipients
We share data only with providers that help us operate the Documentation Site, and only as needed:
- Hosting and content delivery providers, which deliver the site and may log requests.
- Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC (Google Analytics), which provides website analytics.
- DocsBot AI, which provides the AI chat assistant. Messages you type are transmitted to the provider and to the underlying AI model providers it uses in order to generate answers. Please do not enter passwords, license keys, payment details or other sensitive personal data into the chat.
- Support and communication providers, for example our help desk at help.berrypress.com, if you contact us.
- Professional advisers, authorities or courts, where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Providers act as processors on our instructions or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies. We do not control the privacy practices of third-party websites we link to, such as WordPress.org, Facebook or Instagram.
5. International transfers
Some providers are located outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where we transfer personal data there, we rely on an adequacy decision (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified), on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or on another safeguard permitted by the GDPR.
6. How long we keep data
- Server logs: kept for a short period needed for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymised.
- Analytics data: kept in aggregated or anonymised form according to the retention settings of our analytics account (not longer than 14 months for event-level data).
- AI chat conversations: kept for as long as needed to operate and improve the assistant, subject to the provider's retention settings; you may ask us to delete them.
- Messages you send to us: kept for as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterwards, or longer where the law requires (for example for accounting or to defend legal claims).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise these rights contact us through help.berrypress.com. We may need to verify your identity first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, uodo.gov.pl); you may also contact the authority in your own country of residence.
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, such as the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Documentation Site is intended for site owners, developers and other professionals. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows the current version. We will give more prominent notice of material changes where the law requires it.
