Recovery Emails Not Sending
Go through the list in order. Most problems are in the first three.
The email isn't sending
- Is the email Active? A Draft is never sent. Check the status on the Recovery Emails screen.
- Does the cart have an email address? Without one, the cart is skipped. Open the cart: is the Email row filled in? See Cart emails. Also check that Track cart emails is on.
- Is the cart eligible? It must be unconverted, not empty, not in the trash, last seen at least Send after ago, but no more than a week longer than that. See who receives an email.
- Was it already sent? Each email is sent only once per cart. A second run won't send it again.
- Is WP-Cron running? Emails go out on the hourly scheduled run. See Carts stuck on Active.
- Can your site send email at all? Test with another plugin's email, for example a WooCommerce order email. If those don't arrive either, set up an SMTP or email-delivery plugin.
- Check spam folders, and make sure your sender address matches your domain.
Wait for the next run
Even when everything is right, an email goes out on the next hourly run after the cart qualifies. Test with Send after set to a few minutes and be patient for up to an hour.
Shortcodes are not replaced
If the received email contains [first_name] or [cart_contents] as plain text:
- Use square brackets, with no spaces:
[first_name] - Lowercase only
- Check the spelling in both subject and body
- Save the email again, and make sure it's Active
The coupon is empty Pro
If [coupon] comes out empty:
- Is Live Carts Pro activated?
- Is Discount percentage above 0 on that email?
- Is
[coupon]in the subject or body? - Can you create a coupon manually in WooCommerce → Marketing → Coupons? If not, something else in your store is blocking coupons.
Also remember: once a shopper has used a recovery coupon, no further recovery emails are sent for that cart.
